Description:
Over the past decade, efforts have increased to improve access to federally funded research. On December 16, 2015, the USDOT implemented a plan in response to a 2013 OSTP memorandum directing federal agencies to enhance public access to research results. While state DOTs are not yet required to follow this plan, they will likely be in the future. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is proactively exploring how other states manage and publicize their research data.
Goal:
The objective is to assess how other state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) have implemented research data management plans (DMP) to enhance public access to their research results. Additionally, the goal is to develop a proactive strategy for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to align with potential future requirements for public access to research data.
