Description:
ADOT’s Financial Management Services (FMS) Resource Administration team uses a Microsoft© Access™ database to manage over $1 billion annually in federally funded projects. The database tracks project details and is crucial for reporting federal aid allocations. However, it faces issues like unresponsiveness and compatibility problems, risking data loss. FMS aims to investigate how other state DOTs manage similar databases to identify best practices for a permanent solution.
Goal:
The goal is to evaluate how other state DOTs manage their project databases to identify best practices for technology, policies, and staffing. This will help ADOT find a permanent solution to the issues faced with their current Microsoft© Access™ database.
