Xuesong Zhou

Dr. Xuesong (Simon) Zhou is a Professor of Transportation Systems at the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at Arizona State University (ASU). His research focuses on multimodal transportation planning, including dynamic traffic assignment, traffic estimation and prediction, large-scale routing, and rail scheduling. Dr. Zhou is an influential figure in the transportation field, serving as an Associate Editor for Transportation Research Part C, Executive Editor-in-Chief of Urban Rail Transit, and an Editorial Board Member for Transportation Research Part B. He is also the Director of the ASU Transportation+AI Lab, where he has developed several open-source software packages such as DTALite, NEXTA, and OSM2GMNS, which have been widely adopted by metropolitan planning agencies and state DOTs. Dr. Zhou has authored over 100 research papers with more than 11,000 citations and an H-index of 60. In addition to his academic work, he actively connects researchers, practitioners, and students in the transportation field and serves in leadership roles, including conference chair for the TRB Innovations in Travel Analysis and Planning Conference.
