Brendan Russo

Dr. Brendan J. Russo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering at Northern Arizona University (NAU). He also serves as Associate Director of AZTI. With over 14 years of experience in transportation research, teaching, and professional work, Dr. Russo holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation from Iowa State University. His research focuses on traffic safety, the impacts of automated driving systems, roadway design safety and economic assessments, vulnerable road user safety, and econometric methods for transportation data analysis. Dr. Russo is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and serves on several Transportation Research Board (TRB) committees. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in Arizona and has been involved in numerous transportation-related research projects funded by various DOTs and organizations.
