Mikhail Chester
Dr. Mikhail Chester is a Professor at Arizona State University (ASU) in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. His research focuses on sustainable infrastructure systems, climate resilience, and urban sustainability. Dr. Chester leads interdisciplinary research initiatives exploring the intersection of transportation, energy, and water systems to enhance urban resilience and sustainability. He is involved in policy advisory roles, providing insights on infrastructure adaptation and sustainability strategies. His work addresses the complex challenges of infrastructure in the Anthropocene, including climate change, emerging technologies, and social dynamics. Dr. Chester’s lab emphasizes infrastructure resilience to climate change and extreme events, using reliability models, simulations of interdependencies, and alternative design approaches. He also contributes to infrastructure life cycle assessment and urban systems analysis, providing a systems perspective on complex infrastructure and urban activities.
