Hongki Jo
Dr. Hongki Jo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics at the University of Arizona (UofA). He holds a BS and MS in civil engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Jo worked as a professional bridge engineer at Seoyeong Engineering Co. in Korea. His research interests focus on the development of next-generation smart technologies for the monitoring, protection, and rehabilitation of civil systems. His work includes structural health monitoring, wireless smart sensor networks, bio-inspired sensing technologies, structural damage identification, advanced functional materials, and seismic retrofit. He also conducts research in earthquake, wind, and bridge engineering, energy harvesting, and full-scale dynamic testing. Dr. Jo teaches courses in reinforced concrete structure design and advanced structural dynamics.
