Steven R. Gehrke

Dr. Steven Robert Gehrke is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering at Northern Arizona University (NAU). He also has professional affiliations with the Department of Geography, Planning, and Recreation at NAU and the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education. Dr. Gehrke received his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Portland State University and his M.S. in Community Planning from the University of Maryland. His research focuses on sustainable transportation planning and engineering, with interests in active transportation, micromobility, automobility, transportation and land use interactions, and travel behavior analysis. Dr. Gehrke has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has been involved in various projects, including developing a web-based cyclist route decision-making tool, evaluating interactions with autonomous delivery robots, and analyzing ride hailing services for spatial equity.
