Description:
The study will identify opportunities for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to upcycle plastic waste in fill, aggregates, and other materials used to construct transportation infrastructure. Specifically, the study will describe the capabilities and characteristics of materials produced using existing technologies, develop case studies describing when and how upcycled plastic materials have been used in transportation infrastructure, identify promising use cases in Arizona, and—if sufficient data are available—analyze the costs and benefits of ADOT using upcycled plastic materials in Arizona.
